With a bigger battalion than The Hobbit: Battle of The Five Armies and a more loyal following than that of Spartacus our Volunteers Programme is host to one of the most exciting and exclusive seats in the house for Irelands Premier Cinematic Event this coming February.

Each year sees a return of a ‘Thanks Giving Family Reunion’ proportions as well as a new wave of interest both nationwide and from aboard, of enthusiastic and committed applicants. This army of ‘cinema soldiers’ can be found both on the ‘battlefronts’ of our various venues and behind the scenes at many of our events, who selflessly give up their free time to make sure that our audiences enjoy their festival experience.

They can be found from all ages, occupations and nationalities, generously lending themselves to staffing various departments and venues for the festival period. They can be found everywhere from the lobbies welcoming the patrons, to assisting with back of house duties with box office and production, to liaising with our guests in hospitality.

Here at DIFF we pride ourselves on creating a close knit all inclusive family environment for our volunteers. Each year sees, not only new volunteers from near and abroad offering their services but the festival also sees many returning for their annual volunteering shift with the us, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and love for what the festival is trying to achieve with its audience.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to experience the cinematic celebration that the festival brings to Dublin each year, and presents a wonderful opportunity to gain first hand experience into how an event of this scale is managed and organised. But not only this, volunteering becomes a community that lives beyond the festival, evolving into both social and professional circles in The Arts.
