LK CASTING

The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland is running a Casting & Audition Workshop this Sunday 23rd November at Essex Street West, Temple Bar from 10am – 5pm. The workshop will be run by two of casting agents Karen Scully (10am-1pm) & Colin Thornton (2pm-5pm) from Ireland’s leading agent, Louise Kiely Casting.

This important workshop will give participants all the tips they need in order to land that role. Through this unique intensive one-day workshop, Karen and Colin will explain and demonstrate how to significantly increase students chances of making a lasting impression.

Workshop attendants will learn all the do’s and dont’s from make-up and dress code for castings, to how to introduce themselves to camera, basic improvisation skills, how to approach agents and get to take part in a mock audition to help distinguish between a good and bad audition.

Louise Kiely trained as an actor at The Gaiety School of Acting before setting up Louise Kiely Casting in 2005. Since then the agency has gone from strength to  strength, casting films such as ‘What Richard Did’ with Jack Reynor, ‘The Lobster’ with Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, Pan with Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyfried, Love Rosie with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin -just to name a few! The agency has also recently been responsible for the casting of upcoming Irish-based TV shows including Red Rock, Damo & Ivor, Sing Street and Ripper Street.

Karen Scully is an Associate Casting Directors with LK Casting. She trained at the Gaiety School of Acting and was an Actor for 15 years before starting work with Louise Kiely Casting so she has a wonderful perspective of both sides of the industry. Colin Thornton is Courses Co-ordinator & Casting Tutor at LK Casting. He works as a Writer and Director in both Film and Theatre and has been teaching both drama and screen acting for the past 7 years. He joined LKC in January 2014 to design and co-facilitate LKC Courses.

Tom Murphy, a past participant of the Casting & Audition Workshop found that the techniques and tips learned at the workshop were extremely helpful, commenting ‘I went to an audition in London. Due to this course, I was prepared for everything the casting agent asked me to do’.
