Ill-Advised Theatre Company are casting actors for their upcoming production of the musical ‘Spring Awakening’ by Duncan Sheik & Steven Sater. Ill-Advised Theatre Company is a Dublin based company set up with the goal of bringing high quality and affordable musical theatre to Dublin. Founded in late 2013, the company has since managed to stage a highly successful two week run of their debut production ‘[title of show]’ by Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell last August in The New Theatre.
We are now setting our sights on our next production, ‘Spring Awakening’, and we are looking to find as much new talent as possible. The show is an engaging & ground-breaking musical based on a 19th century German play of the same name. It explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood, set to an indie-rock score by Duncan Sheik. It tells the story of a group of young people growing up in 19th century Germany and being oppressed by the adults and society of the time.
Venue & production dates are to be confirmed, we will keep auditionees updated. We are looking to stage the show in March/April of next year in a major city centre venue, with rehearsals starting in November.
This production will be on a profit-share basis / Remuneration type : Profit-Share
Location – The Lab, Foley Street, Dublin 1.
Dates – Tuesday 21st October between 2pm and 6pm (Please note that if you are successful in your first audition you will be required to attend a call-back on Saturday 25th October)
If these dates don’t suit please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.
Currently we are looking to fill up our cast with as much fresh and young talent as possible. It is very much an ensemble cast, with each
role having their moment to shine. If you have any extra talents (e.g. Movement training, musical instruments) please let us know.
Young Males: (Teen-Early 20’s) The majority of male roles in the show are made up of a group of young male actors who can convincingly play teenagers. All appearances and vocal types welcome!
If you can play piano please let us know as this will be a massive bonus.
All parts are singing roles with substantial solos.
Young Women: (Teen-Early 20’s) Young women who can convincingly play young teenage girls. All types welcome.
We are particularly looking for girls with a strong lower range.
All parts are singing roles with solos throughout
Adult Man: (30’s – Late 40’s) We require one male actor to play a variety of adult characters throughout the show. This role is sure to test any actor’s abilities, and is required to be comfortable with comedic and dramatic characters.
NOTE: The Adult Man is not a singing part, therefore you will not be asked to sing if you are uncomfortable with it.
Please note that due to the controversial topics dealt with in the show we will only consider actors over the age of 18.
