An open audition for new comedy-drama set in Cork takes place at the
Montfort College of Performing Arts, Penrose Wharf, this Saturday, the
2nd of February from 2pm.
‘Standing Up’ is a six-part comedy-drama set in Cork City, the
television pilot of which is scheduled for shooting in Cork City and
County the week of 25th March to the 30th March, 2013. The six-part
series was written by Cork writer, Gary Wade, prior to development by
Rob Heyland, the creator of Ultimate Force for ITV and writer of
critically acclaimed RTE drama, Whistleblower.
Present at the casting session on the day will be Gary Wade
(Writer/Director) and Lorcan Dunne (Director of Photography).
Lorcan Dunne recently worked on Hugo, directed by Martin Scorsese and
his previous productions have broadcast on both Sky and MTV.
The following roles are open to cast:
Dessie: Late twenties, early thirties.
Shane: Tall academic, late twenties, early thirties.
Ziggy: Slightly demented male, twenties/thirties.
Maureen: Mother of main character, late fifties, early sixties.
Finbarr: Father of main character, late fifties, early sixties.
Christie: Bar owner, fifties.
Fionnuala: Attractive, late twenties, early thirties.
Carmel: Late thirties.
Ivan Keogh: Businessman, forties.
Niall: Late teens, early twenties.
Middle aged man: Forties/fifties.
Tony: Soccer manager, mid forties.
Aidan: early thirties.
Nigel: Sarcastic barman, twenties/thirties.
Random bloke: Twenties/thirties.
