The Gaiety School of Acting is delighted to welcome Pat Nolan and Gemma Doorly to its staff this term. Pat and Gemma will teach Acting for Camera 3: Career Skills on Saturday evenings for 8 weeks starting 19th January.

Both Pat and Gemma have very extensive careers in T.V., Theatre and Film. Pat has won the International d’Or Festival for Best Soap Actor in 2005. And Gemma was nominated for a Best Actress IFTA for her role in the film ‘A Song For Rebecca’. Most recently she is touring Ireland directing and starring in the theatre production of ‘W.A.G.’. However, both Gemma and Pat are best known for their roles as ‘Sarah O’Leary’ and ‘Barry O’Hanlon’ in RTE’s ‘Fair City’. And coincidentally  even more known for their infamous storyline where Barry (Pat) accidently kills Sarah (Gemma) by hitting her with a door! Could make for an interesting dynamic to the class and hopefully Pat will be a bit more courteous this time!

Pat Nolan & Gemma Doorly tutor at The Gaiety School of Acting

Acting for Camera 3: Career Skills promises to go the extra mile this term. The course aims to get actors up to speed with the demands of shooting for TV and Film. As part of the curriculum, students will be given casting advice and introduced to the complexities of multi-camera performance.

The school provides courses in Acting for Camera for all levels. Acting for Camera 3 provides participants who already have learned core acting techniques the opportunity to explore the similarities and differences between stage and screen acting. Acting for Camera 3 is for students who are more advanced in the field, having most likely already completed the earlier courses, Acting for Camera 1: Acting Skills and Acting for Camera 2: Practical Skills.

Patrick Sutton, Director of the Gaiety School of Acting notes ‘Everybody in Ireland instantly recognizes Pat and Gemma! They have graced our screens for many years now and are experts in their field and a perfect choice of tutor for this exciting and innovative course!’

If you are interested in joining this dynamic duo, you can book your place on the course a number of ways!
