I actually can’t believe the firs term of the part-time one year course is already over!
I have been going to the Gaiety School of Acting now twice a week since the 1st of October so it’s so strange having nowhere to go this week.
|Getting ready for the Showcase|
After all our hard work on our monologues the class finally had our showcase last Monday and it went really well. We were all so chuffed for each other because we have seen the hard work everyone has put in, and how much people have improved.
Like I said in my earlier blogs, we were individually directed on our monologues how to perfect them, how to move, what tone to use, and although it could be frustrating at times, everyone got it perfect on the night and our teacher was really pleased with our progress.
After the showcase we did indulge in some after hours celebrating, and not to name any names, but a few of us were out until the very early hours of the morning.
That’s one of things I love about the course. We have all grown really close as friends and socialising is just a part of the whole package now.
Even our teacher Antoinette decided to join us for a few and cheers to a great first term. But it’s all over for now, and next term we will be focusing on scene work.
We will be paired up at some stage and we will have to work with one person on a scene for weeks, once again being directed for a performance.
It’s going to be challenging, but we all can’t wait to progress to the next stage. For now we will enjoy our 4 weeks off for the Christmas break, but we’re all back on January 7, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say we miss the place already.
Until next time!
