Donal Courtney is a tutor on our Full-time and one year part-time courses and a respected playwright.  Most recently he wrote and Directed ‘For Whom We Deliver’ performed by the Gaiety School of Acting Youth Theatre Company at Smock Alley Theatre.

Election Night by Donal Courtney is to be staged as part of the Stone Hearth Staged Reading Series at the Irish Heritage Center, Chicago.

This is the second year of the series. In 2011 the three plays staged were by Brian Friel, Hugh Leonard and Sean O’Casey. This year the company are staging Afterplay by Brian Friel, In the Shadow of the Glen by J.M. Synge and Election Night by Donal Courtney.  The play will be directed by Sy Osborne.

Election Night will be staged on Oct 25th and Oct. 28th.

The play was first produced in 2003 by Bewley’s Café Theatre, directed by Joan Sheehy.

It was published in 2008 as part of the compilation on one act plays Freshley Brewed (Stinging Fly Press).
