THE SEARCH FOR NIAMH KEEGAN HOTS UP –

NOW IN A NEW, BIGGER VENUE!

Since Zanzibar Films first publicised its search for a leading actress for ‘Cuckoo’, the new four-part drama commissioned for RTÉ’s acclaimed online competition Storyland, hundreds of would-be ‘Niamh Keegans’ have come forward, desperate to be considered for the role.

As a result, the OPEN AUDITION for ‘Cuckoo’ has been moved to a larger venue. It will now take place at Dtwo Night Club, 60 Harcourt Street, this Saturday 26 November, from 11am to 6pm.

Finding the right actress to play the troubled teen is crucial. The casting panel, whose job it will be to pick a star out of the crowds of red-haired actresses, will include director Danann Breathnach and Aidan Power (from 98fm/RTÉ’s The Café).

Other roles being cast include MAUREEN KEEGAN (52), a buxom, motherly brunette harbouring a secret; BRENDAN KEEGAN (54), a quiet family man with an excruciating sense of humour and an unexpected ‘Alpha Male’ side; TINA VICKERS (37), a brassy, rough redhead who knows how to turn on the charm but is not above a bar-room brawl; and SARAH MCCARTHY (17), Niamh’s mischievous partner-in-crime.

‘Cuckoo’ will be filmed in Ranelagh, starting this December. Its first episode will be broadcast on 13 February 2012 on RTÉ’s You Tube site. Public voting to keep ‘Cuckoo’ in the competition will begin the same day on the RTÉ Storyland Facebook page.
