Devise and Conquer Theatre Company are proud to present William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in the Complex, Smithfield from 16 – 19 November 2011.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet

Directed by Lianne O’Shea

Following on from last year’s hugely successful production of The Merchant of Venice – ‘stimulating and provocative’ (Irish Theatre Magazine) – devise+conquer theatre company return to The Complex with Shakespeare’s classic tale of young lovers and feuding families, Romeo and Juliet.

Confronting head-on the unsentimental robustness of this text you will find yourself in a world of street gangs and riots, back-alley drug deals and burnt-out cars.

This age-old tale fits as easily into the housing estates of West Dublin as it did in Elizabethan London, or Verona – with a moral as resounding today as then – “violent delights have violent ends”.
