Casting Call for Student Short Film – The Heist

Looking to cast three actors preferably male, for a short film being shot in Dublin on the 18th and 19th of March.

When ED (mid 20s) first heard about the heist, it sounded like the perfect plan. Easy Money. Now he is not so sure. Who is going topick up his nephew if he gets shot? Or worse… what if he has to go to prison? He can’t go to prison?! Ed is extremely nervous prior to the heist, thinking about all the bad things that could happen. He just kind of went along with the plan but did not think very far ahead. He is the getaway driver. In the script, he is described as male, but could be female. Anyone, aged 18 to 40 from Ireland.

STEVE (late 20s) is the ‘mastermind’ of the heist. He loves Heist movies and spent countless nights with Ed and Pete in the pub down the road talking about what they would do with their share. He is not usually an angry man, but when no one else seems to take this heist serious, his temper starts to rise. He, along with Pete, gets knocked out when entering the bank. Is described as male, but could be female. Anyone, aged 18 to 45 from Ireland.

PETE (early 20s) did his 12th year thrice. He says he just wasn’t ready to go out in the ‘real world’, but everyone knows that is not true. When Steve asked him to join the heist, he didn’t think twice about it. He is quiet and usually with his head in the clouds. He is not a leader but a follower. He gets knocked out when he enters the bank. Anyone, aged 18 to 40 from Ireland.

Deadline: Send an audition tape to theheist.film.dublin@gmail.com  by Friday, 8th of March. Auditions will take place on Saturday the 9th.

Voice overs for Interactive Animation

Two male voices required for a Student Final Year Interactive Animation – “BoltHalt Inc”.

It follows the story of Francis, who wakes up in a peculiar hospital following an accident. Francis is mute and discovers that after their accident their internal voice has split into two different voices taking up different parts of their brain, the logical and emotional respectively. Throughout the story Francis tries to discover what happened to them, all the while struggling with the new voices in their head and which to listen to.

[EMOTIONAL BRAIN] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 20s-30s]

Empathetic, creative and impulsive. The “emotional” side of the brain feels insecure about the new situation they are in, and will often advocate impulsive decision based on empathy, reflex or stress. Preferable accents: Neutral

[DOCTOR] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 30s-50s]

Intelligent, secretive and lacks social skills. The doctor appears to want the best for Francis and will go to lengths to help them through the shock and stress of the new situation. He is a perfectionist and will panic if events do not go according to plan. Preferable accents: Neutral

Those interested are to contact Rhiannon O’Connor at rhiannon.oconnor73@mail.dcu.ie who will send part of our script on so you can send back a voice recording. The deadline for submission of the voice recording is the 7th of March.

The recording location will be on the DCU Glasnevin Campus, Glasnevin, Dublin 9 on either the 12th or 13th of March.

If you have any queries or need more information as we have more detailed character descriptions, please feel free to contact Rhiannon at rhiannon.oconnor73@mail.dcu.ie.

Casting Call for Theatre Role

What’s hotter than the devil’s backside? A priest on Grindr. 3 young apprentices in a seminary find themselves tried, tired and tested as each struggle with their own path to salvation. Jack, Ian and Harry are all put to the test in where they fit in with the church and all search for answers in very different and conflicting ways. Brotherhood isn’t easy… especially when your sexuality keeps getting in the way.

In the run up to David Donovan’s production of Sistemic in this year’s Smock Alley Scene + Heard festival, David and his new team including accredited film director Kate Haley are now looking forward to finding fantastic actors and creatives to join us for an exciting new project with the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival.

In brief, we’re looking for:

3 men in their early to late 20s

1 woman in her 40s-50s

All of whom we will be able to compensate for the time, talent and passion they can give to this play.

If you’re interested in finding out more about any of the above, please send us an email to ddonovan96@gmail.com with a relevant CV and headshot and/or a showreel for actors along with your availability on the 27th and 28th of February for an audition.
