2012 is a key decision-making year during which the EU budget 2014-2020 will be voted upon by Members of the European Parliament and Ministers from the Member States. EU support to culture over the next seven years is at stake and the negotiations over the first four months of 2012 will be crucial. The campaign ‘we are more – act for culture in Europe’ calls for vital support for culture in the next EU budget and wants to collect 100.000 signatures and present them to the Culture Ministers of all EU Member States when they gather in Brussels for the EU Council of Culture Ministers the 10th of May 2012.

You are invited to The Friday Showing of:

Sleepwalker

on

 Friday March 23rd at 6pm

in The Theatre Development Centre, Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork.

Admission is free.

Michael Robert Murphy is a Fulbright Scholar in residence at UCC this semester. A director and actor in film and theatre, Michael is head of the graduate filmmaking program at The University of Montana. His recent work explores the relationship between live performance, film reality, and memory. The first two phases of this exploration began playing the title role in Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape, then in the translation of that work into a film (be again 2010). The third phase moves into combining live performance and film, exploring the portal between waking and dreaming, present and past, and the limits of language in describing the experience of reality.

This new work in development, Sleepwalker, will be shown alongside the work of students from UCC also exploring “the invisible made visible.”

Michael is also performing Krapp’s Last Tape during his stay here–March 14, 15, 16 at the Granary Theatre, where he will also be showing and speaking about his work process at a Perforum, Wednesday, March 21st at 6:00
