Síle Jane Culley is currently working as production co-ordinator on a short film called ‘The Consolation of Orion’ and is looking for extras for Dublin city centre locations. The short film is about two men who spark a strange, yet beautiful friendship regardless of their own personal problems. It is written and directed by Siobhan McMahon and produced by Dave Clarke. Unfortunately, due to the tight budget, they are not in a position to be able to pay the extras.
The crew are senior and experienced, with past experience including ‘Ps I love You’, ‘Becoming Jane’, ‘Noreen’ and ‘Raw’. It is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to eventually get involved in the industry. It’s a great way to experience a professional working set.
What they are looking for?

They are looking for girls and boys from the age of 16 to 30. Student, couples, housewives, people waiting at the bus, that sort of stuff. Past experience is not needed, anyone is welcome.
When would this be on?

Filming is from Friday 2nd to Monday 5th March.
The production team are still finalising the schedule, so specific dates for extras are yet to be confirmed. Extras are NOT needed for all four days, but may be broken down into specific days. (ie, two 20yr girls for saturday and monday)
Tea & coffee & snacks will be provided on the day to make sure nobody runs out of steam and keep smiling!
If anybody is interested, I would ask them please to email Síle Jane Culley, production co-ordinator ‘Orion’, directly on sileculley@gmail.com

RIUCHI Triskel Arts Centre,Cork

You are invited to The Friday Showing of:

RIUCHI

Directed By Fernando Hunon Hernadez

Performed By Guillaume Cousson

Circus-Dance-Magic

on

Friday March 2nd at 6pm

in

The Theatre Development Centre,

Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork.

Admission is free.

Hope to see you there!

RIUCHI develops around a series of two short circus acts in which technology, movement and theatre meet to create an innovative stage performance.

The mix of techniques, skills, genre, technology and the perpetual use of rhythm breaks and misdirection offer compelling moments that renew the perception of what contemporary circus acts could become while being caught between juggling, dance and magic.

The main character, RIUCHI, himself fully represents the mix and uncertainty of the performance to happen. Its elusive silhouette puts him outside of time and frontiers, within a borderless imaginary space that he creates and destroys from one act to the other. The props used are unique and developed specifically for this show, creating lights and colors manipulation, in various imaginative ways.

The public won’t know what will happen next, while not being quiet sure of what just happened now.

RIUCHI is a multifaceted journey inspiring beauty, movement, surprise and poetic amazement.

The Gaiety School of Acting is delighted to announce the Alexander Technique Masterclass with Aisling Morgan which will take place on Saturday, 12th May from 10am to 5pm.

The Alexander Technique was developed over one hundred years ago by Frederick Matthias Alexander, an Australian actor who was suffering from loss of his voice during performance. Through his technique he overcame this problem and experienced a dramatic improvement in health. The Alexander Technique is now taught all over the world and is especially highly regarded in drama and music circles. Students of the technique relearn a more co-ordinated use of the body. Common difficulties for actors and musicians include performance related anxiety and physical tension/pain.  This workshop will explore how the Alexander Technique can help students with such difficulties and improve the quality of their experience as a performing actor.

Participants of the Alexander Technique workshop can expect to:

  • Learn how to release unnecessary tension/strain that has become habitual
  • Understand the causes of poor posture and physical tension/pai n
  • Learn how to move more efficiently and effectively
  • Investigate ways of working with performance anxiety to improve the quality of experience as a   performing actor
  • Explore how an increase in body awareness opens up more possibilities in terms of expression and also improves stage presence
  • Learn how to carry out a simple lying down exercise known as constructive rest
  • Understand the health benefits of this exercise and its relevance to performance

Date: Saturday, 12th May 2012
Time: 10am – 5pm

‘Not While There’s Work To Be Done’ is a new play set in the darkness of rural Connemara where James and his son Colm have left home to look for a stray mule. Tonight this seemingly simple task will prove to be anything but as their journey takes them unwittingly walking from Connemara to Sligo over the course of one night.

Along the way strange characters intent on diverting them from their path appear out of nowhere, Garda Tom Flanagan, on the hunt of a crazed murderer recently escaped from prison, Marianne O’Rourke a young woman out of time who wants nothing more than help to put out the fire on her house.

Nothing is as it seems for James and Colm as all this and much more threatens to overwhelm them in their quest to find this lost mule. Over the course of the night their odyssey will take them back into the heart of a superstitious old weird, rural Ireland struggling to comprehend the coming modernism.
