On Monday the 22nd of February, Dublin City Library was presented with a collection of memorabilia items being donated to them by the Gaiety School of Acting. Compiled by the School’s Archivist, Barry Houlihan, the presentation was attended by the GSA Director Patrick Sutton, GSA Chairman Joe Dowling and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin. Examples of the materials on show included theatrical posters, scripts and other memorabilia recounting the 25-year history of the Gaiety School of Acting. Photographs on display included the likes of Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Stuart Townsend and Eva Birthistle. Commenting on the event, GSA Director Patrick Sutton said, ‘When we started, there was a dearth of training. We wanted people in the profession to train the next generation of actors. I’m very proud we began it’.
School founder and Chairman Joe Dowling was very pleased with the presentation adding, ‘I’m enormously proud of what they’ve achieved, it has become such a significant part of the Irish theatre scene’.

The Gaiety School of Acting would like to thank Archivist Barry Houlihan for his hard work in compiling all of the memorabilia on display.
